Material selection, dispersion, mixing, coating, drying and pressing connect formulation with electrode behaviour.
Technology
Energy describes how much support is available. Power describes how quickly it can be delivered. Useful storage must also be ready for the next event.

Current prototype platform
Supercapacitors store energy through charge separation at electrode surfaces. This makes them useful candidates for short power events and frequent charge-discharge operation.
Volfpack’s materials work explores graphene-enhanced activated-carbon electrodes. Pouch-cell development connects that research with electrode preparation, coating, assembly, sealing and characterisation.
The current engagement is prototype development and evaluation. Cell selection depends on voltage, current, duration, physical space and operating environment.
Discuss a prototypeDevelopment programme
Our sodium-hybrid programme explores an architecture combining a capacitor-type electrode with a sodium-storage electrode. The aim is to support longer power events while retaining useful power-delivery and recovery characteristics.
The work focuses on usable energy, resistance and reproducibility, together with the processes required for larger formats.
This is an active development programme. Product specifications will follow measured performance and application validation.

Material selection, dispersion, mixing, coating, drying and pressing connect formulation with electrode behaviour.
Electrodes, separators, current paths and packaging come together in a physical pouch-cell prototype.
Measured electrical behaviour guides the next design decision and the work needed for the intended duty.

Published research
Research by Volfpack-affiliated authors with collaborators from the University of Peradeniya, the National Institute of Fundamental Studies and HydroGraph explores graphene additions to activated-carbon electrodes.
Read the open-access paperThe paper addresses electrode research. Complete cells and industrial applications require their own characterisation and validation.
Engineering judgement
Conventional batteries, high-power batteries, supercapacitors and hybrid capacitors serve overlapping needs. The appropriate choice depends on the event and the complete system.
We consider usable energy and power together with recharge requirements, operating conditions, ageing and installed cost. The objective is to match the storage and interface to what the equipment needs.
